It's difficult for Australia to break new ground.

The greatest achievements have already been conquered.

This is the team that has secured seven Cricket World Cups, in addition to six more T20 titles, and earlier maintained 1,294 days undefeated in 50-over cricket.

The alternative records, targeted by the achievement hunters, are what's still available for a squad that has won it all.

The fact it required up to Sunday's success by three wickets over India for them to achieve their initial ODI chase over 300, regaining their record for the largest in the female 50-over format, is, frankly, a testament to the bowlers that have sported the yellow jersey over the last half-century.

It is hard for their batters to hold a record if never given the chance.

In the end, the result of Australia giving up 330 runs was captain Alyssa Healy receiving a chance to produce her most recent brilliance.

Then best known as the teenage relative of celebrated previous Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she debuted in 2010 after her nation didn't secure either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups held the previous year and has experienced everything through 15 championship-filled years since.

A T20 championship victory came three months after her first appearance and seven world titles have followed from 10 efforts across formats.

The tough gloveman was also there in Derby in 2017 when a last-four loss by India briefly halted the run of success.

That loss "pushed us to reevaluate our levels," Healy said this week.

At the subsequent ODI World Cup in New Zealand, Healy scored 170 against England in the championship match and was awarded tournament MVP. She made sure her country would not fall short again.

The question of whether this newest brilliant performance surpassed that earlier display can be debated.

Certain people claim the case for championship match pressure. Others can counter with the challenge that comes when facing a record target and a loud pro-India audience of 20,000.

What is certain is this century was considerably tougher to predict.

The Christchurch carnage in 2022 came as she topped the run-scoring charts, but this performance came after six matches in India since the start of last month in which she had failed to pass 30.

"If you've observed me in the nets, it has been a frustrating experience because it seemed I've had no rhythm whatsoever," said Healy.

"However when you enter the playing area, your fighting spirit take over and you just lock into the competition."

Healy's fighting spirit has consistently been her great strength - and an irreplaceable characteristic in taking over from famous previous leader Meg Lanning.

She was troubled by India's promising player Kranti Gaud in last month's ODI series, dismissed by the emerging pace bowler in all three matches, but here that only provided Healy's inspiration.

A single came off Gaud's first delivery and after that the right-hander was underway.

"An opportunity to take the field and face the challenge with her and merely enjoy the moment that way, somewhat inspired me," said Healy.

She achieved fifty in 35 deliveries - her quickest at the World Cup - and her century in 84 balls as she flogged anything short, hitting 21 fours and three maximums.

When she was removed Australia needed 66 additional runs at one run per ball - a manageable total now demanding an easy conclusion.

"To chase 330 is new territory so I am glad we have the belief to achieve that now," stated Healy further.

"Ideally we won't need to do it another time but, should it happen, we are confident we can achieve it."

These statements will be the final thing competing nations at this tournament need to hear.

During the last week a feeling they will succeed regardless of circumstances has become more firm - this triumph following win against Pakistan by 107 run margin despite sitting at 76-7 at a certain moment.

Following this Australia face Bangladesh before a match against old rivals England in Indore in a week and a half, by which point a semi-final berth may likely be confirmed.

It was at that stage they left the previous year's T20 World Cup in an unexpected loss by South Africa - a game Healy was absent due to damaged tissue in her foot as she led her country for the inaugural occasion at a major tournament.

So strong is her resolve, she later said she wished she had played despite the injury.

But while she later admitted those injuries have delayed consideration of ending her career, this tournament is likely to be her final tournament as skipper in 50-over cricket and she is hasn't yet secured an international tournament as captain.

Triumph in India would bring her to the top of her last major obstacle.
