An extensive extended journey through the Australian Coast has been cancelled days after the tragic passing of an senior female passenger who was abandoned by the vessel on a remote island.

The passenger had been hiking on the tropical location with other travelers from the vessel, but parted ways from the group for a break. The ship sailed away leaving her and went back after some time after the crew became aware the lady was missing.

A large-scale hunt located her remains the subsequent day.

The daughter of the elderly passenger said that her loved ones was "surprised and grieved that the ship left the location after an scheduled excursion without my mum".

Through her comments, she described her mother as an "vigorous octogenarian" who was a affiliate of a hiking club.

"From the little facts we have been told, it seems that there was a failure of responsibility and basic judgment," she said.

She further stated that she hoped the investigation would be able to pinpoint what "the company should have done that might have preserved Mother's existence".
