Norris Leads Oscar Piastri in Brazilian Practice
The British driver has beaten his teammate at all of the last five race weekends.
The McLaren driver edged out team-mate and title rival Oscar Piastri for the quickest lap in the closing stages of practice at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
The British racer, who grabbed the points lead from Piastri by a single point after taking the win in Mexico City a fortnight back, outpaced the Australian by a tiny margin of 0.023secs.
Earlier in the session, Oscar Piastri had been the fastest McLaren driver for most of the session before sprint qualifying set to begin at the evening session.
Max Verstappen, the sole remaining contender in the championship fight, sitting 36 points behind Norris, was classified in 17th position as his team ran a unique setup.
His teammate the Japanese driver was the only driver to crash, albeit lightly, when he rotated at Turn Four early in the session.
Tsunoda lost control over the exit kerbs before sliding over the gravel trap, and was fortunate to get away with just a slight brush of the fence.
Ferrari's Lewis Hamilton also lost it, at the conclusion of the practice, spinning around through the quick descending Mergulho turn leading to the final corner on to the main straight.
Hamilton finished practice in 19th place, one place behind teammate the Monegasque driver.
The McLaren pair were significantly quicker of the rest of the field, with the German's Sauber P3, 0.619 seconds slower than Piastri's best.
The Aston Martin of Fernando Alonso was in fourth, with the Sauber of Gabriel Bortoleto fifth from Mercedes' George Russell and Alpine's Gasly and the Williams of Sainz.
